Prostitution and Gigolism

"Prostitution and gigolism are a necessary evil" Discuss this from a Christian point of view.

Prostitution is a practice where a woman uses her body (Sexual organs) for economic gains and gigolism in the same way is when a man uses his sexual organs for economic gains.

A survey carried out showed that 71.5% was highest in Mubende and Masaka, followed by Bugiri and Iganga 66.8% and lowest in Mukono with 41.4%.

As a Christian I disagree with the above statement because of the following bad effects that the two can bring:-

It is against the intention of God about sex which is supposed to be in marriage relationships.

It is a sign of lack of self control and leads to self abasement and lack of respect in society bringing embarrassment and one is seen as an outcast.

It lowers dignity or victims who are sex objects in Hos 2:4-19 Gommer made her marriage life difficult.

No love is involved; no enjoyment of sex, no choice of partner.

It leads to unwanted pregnancies which lead to abortion or unwanted children are born who becomes a government burden (street children.)

Such people are prone to STDS most of which affect new customers and can lead to death.

It leads to neglect of family responsibilities by those involved in satisfying personal desires.

It is expensive as one tries to make self attractive to meet required standards.

There is lack of trust in God's provision and therefore sign of laziness and failure to plan for oneself.

God's temple is abused since our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit.

Can lead to brutal and Savage mistreatment by sex buyers and sometimes used and not paid.

Can lead to rivalry, hatred, fights, witchcraft or disorder in society and the end can be death.

Can lead to loss of career.

Affects family stability e.g. Hosea's Immoral wife (Gommer).

Leads to mobility to seek new venture

God hates prostitution as expressed in Paul's letters.

Christian should avoid sexual instinct to control life; it a dangers physical and spiritual life of individual.

Christians are called upon to join Christian organisation for better socialisation to avoid such temptation.

They should join money making projects and work hard to avoid being sexual objects.

Salvation involves self denial, sacrifices and commitment to God who calls us for holiness since we are his temple. This calls for good living and not be enslaved by evil desire.

Prostitutes lie in unhygienic condition.

In prostitution there is no lasting relationship.

These vices can lead to wrecking of marriages where witchcraft is involved by rightful partners or competitors and sometimes divorce.

A prostitute or a gigolo is a social misfit or outcast with no dignity.

Prostitution contributes to high rate of school dropout.

Sex is a gift from God; for companionship and procreation therefore not for fun or money making.

In case parents die of incurable disease children suffer without parental love.

Causes of prostitution / Gigolism

It is argued that some become prostitutes due the environment.
